SOLAR ENERGY ON A HOUSEBOAT

Houseboats with solar-powered electric motors are becoming increasingly popular. At the moment, most of them need to be recharged at special stations. It is worth saying that very soon this method will become obsolete with the systems as PowerRouter and Tesla’s Home Battery coming into use.

The innovative battery by the electric car manufacturer Tesla will only be available to order by the end of this summer, but the idea is clear: the batteries will be charging during the day with the help of solar panels. When the charging power is low, for example at night, you use the stored energy. The improved quality of these batteries has led to a decrease in their size but allowed increasing the amount of energy they generate.

Not all houseboats are suitable for operating on solar energy. If the floating house is moored in a location with not enough sunlight, the energy produced will not be sufficient to justify the investment in this innovation.

But this modern solar system will be perfect for floating houses used in more sunny areas.

The only drawback of the system, which we have found so far, is that the area on the roof will be occupied by the solar panels.
